LifeOntology is built to provide an unified conceptual view towards various sorts of data related to life sciences.
It imports and aligns the following ontologies:

• Uniprot RDF: protein sequences and annotation data
• Gene Ontology: gene and gene products attributes
• NCBI Taxonomy tree: phylogenetic and taxonomic knowledge

In essence, LifeOntology is a light-weight protein interaction schema is defined to model the generic relations between proteins, organisms, and other related concepts. LifeOntology defines several classes and properties, expressed in OWL DLP (the simplest flavour of OWL).
