Lupedia Enrichment Service

As part of our efforts in the NoTube project, we created a Text Enrichment service called Lupedia.

• The service uses Ontotext's LKB Gazetteer to lookup words against DBpedia and LinkedMDB (Linked Movie Database) entities
• Supports multiple languages, such as English, Italian and French
• Various output filters, weights and heuristics are provided to allow accurate matching.
• Does lookup, but no named entity recognition

We recently completed an evaluation of Lupedia and compared it to two other similar services: AlchemyAPI and OpenCalais.

• Lupedia has much better coverage (60% more than AlchemyAPI and 1560% more than OpenCalais)
• Lupedia has comparable precision (9% worse than AlchemyAPI, 5% better than OpenCalais)
