Back to AI School: Meetup with Robert Dale

Sep 12, 2017

This meetup is shaped around the opportunity to meet Robert Dale who is a principal consultant at the Language Technology Group. His company provides unbiased advice on Natural Language Processing solutions.

Robert’s presentation will be based on his keynote talk at RANLP 2017, which took place in Varna earlier this month.

Agenda

The meetup will start at 18:00 EEST with the following agenda:

  1. The Commercial NLP Landscape, Robert Dale (30 min presentation + 15 min discussion) – a comprehensive picture of the commercial NLP landscape, focusing on several key categories of activity: [1] virtual assistants, including chatbots; [2] text analytics and text mining technologies; and [3] natural language generation. In each case, the goal is to sketch the history of work in the area, to identify the major players, and to give a realistic appraisal of the state of the art.
  2. Hercule: Fact-checking and Trustworthiness in Social Networks, Andrey Tagarev, Ontotext (15 min)
  3. News Popularity Ranking Based on Big Knowledge Graphs, Boyan Simeonov and Plamen Tarkalanov, Ontotext (15 min)
  4. Entity Similarity in Big Knowledge Graph, Atanas Kiryakov, Ontotext (10 min) – a short presentation on initial experiments, meant to provoke discussion on what notions of similarity between entities can be practical in useful on graphs like DBPedia.

It will take place at Ontotext’s HQ in Sofia, Bulgaria. Our seats are limited, so please confirm your attendance in advance and plan to arrive 10 minutes early to allow for seating.

Ideas/Projects in Progress

We are looking for one or two additional presentations that could add to the topics of Natural Language Processing and the Semantic Web. If you have an interesting idea to share, drop us a line by Thursday at events@ontotext.com.
