TEKG (Transparency Energy Knowledge Graph) creates a knowledge graph from ENTSO-E Transparency data and, thus, demonstrate the benefits of using Linked Open Data for analytics in the electricity domain. It won cascade funding by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme as part of the INTERRFACE 3rd Open Call for Proposals, where TEKG provided a solution for the challenge “Utilization of Existing ENTSO-E Transparency Platform Data”.

In recent years, the European energy market has moved towards decentralized power generation, which allows energy consumers to become prosumers, not only consuming, but also producing energy. The growth of renewable energy, the increased interconnection of European grids and the development of many local energy initiatives have put further pressure on TSO–DSO for more efficient cooperation. However, the electricity grid is still far from providing the technical basis to allow prosumers to easily contribute to it.
TEKG’s main goal is to demonstrate the benefits of the semantic approach and how it can help improve the quality of ENTSO-E Transparency data and develop flexible analytics. By using Ontotext’s leading products GraphDB and Ontotext Platform as well as its significant expertise in semantic data integration, the company has created a small Transparency Energy Knowledge Graph from ENTSO-E’s Transparency Platform data.
The main project objectives are to:
Sirma AI, trading as Ontotext, is part of Sirma Group Holding and provides a commercial suite of semantic technologies enabling better content management, knowledge discovery and semantic search.
